KW Guide #03: The Fox and the Fallen Fruits

Why did the fox give up on the grapes?

Because it’s easier for him to pick ripe fruits on the ground.

The idea

Imagine this: out there, there are keywords so easy that even a website with a DR of less than 20, fewer than 5 backlinks, and an article not exceeding 500 words can rank on page 1 of the SERP. These keywords are like ripe fruits that have fallen to the ground. All you need to do is pick them up.

If you’re looking for ways to increase traffic to your website, then this guide teaches you how to be a clever fox.

The requirements

This method requires:

  • Ahrefs

The official Ahrefs subscription is very expensive, thus I always use this cheap Ahrefs group buy for doing keyword research. You may want to give it a try.

The instruction

First, go to Ahrefs, click on Content Explorer tab, then input your keyword. In this example, I use the keyword “radiology”.

Second, setup the filter as below:

  • Referring domains: up to 5
  • Organic traffic: from 100
  • DR: up to 20
  • Words: up to 500

(You can flexibly adjust the parameters to suit your niche, don’t be rigid, just try and error.)

After that, click on Show results.

Third, let’s examine the report, look at the image below:

As you can see, there is literally zero competition keyword that even a 1-DR website can rank.

Now you know what to do next? Create super in-depth content for those keywords, do fantastic on-page SEO, maybe build some Web 2.0 links, or send some social signals such as Facebook links. And, you’re ready to get more traffic to your website.
